Genesis Overview Part 2

The Book of Genesis can be divided into two parts, the first being the description of Creation and God’s mandate to the human race to be fruitful and multiply and take dominion of the earth. Also, the first part of Genesis describes the Fall of man and his immoral downward spiral that resulted in God’s judgment with the Flood of Noah, and at Babel, God’s scattering of the nations as He confused them by giving them different languages. The second half of Genesis covers what is called the “Patriarchal Period” where God chooses a man called Abraham as a chosen vessel to begin the unfolding of the plan of God to redeem the human race. He will do it through Abraham and his descendants. These 28 chapters capture one of the greatest stories of human history that still impacts our world today.
